Q-Drum

At Life Project for Africa's recent fund raising event at the beautiful Trump Nation Golf Club, the Q-drum that was on display. This clever water-toting device is literally changing lives overnight for the people of poor countries like Tanzania, where hours every day are spent finding and fetching water. School children especially must rise early in the morning to carry the water in large buckets on their heads before they can ever head off to school.

The Q drum is a hollow piece of plastic in the shape of a doughnut. The drum holds 50 liters of water (a total weight of 110 pounds) and a rope threads through the middle so it can be rolled back to the village. Even a child can handle it. Families can share a Q drum so one donation helps a whole community. Life Project sends these drums to the needy throughout Africa for $65.

Think about it. If six work colleagues, or school friends, or moms pitch in about $10 each, they are greatly improving the quality of life in Africa, especially for children.
